Grace Hospice

IDI® Learning Space

Welcome to Grace’s July IDI® newsletter (within a newsletter)!

Each month we play around with IDI® learning— noticing how our personal background + identities shape how we make sense of the world, while getting curious about how other people see the world from the background + identities they’re coming from. (It’s a BothAnd!)

July’s IDI® Virtual Learning Space

Join our conversation about noticing that each of us carries cultural values into hospice care. Some of those values come from our professional training. Some come from our families, faith traditions, communities, personal losses, and lived experiences.

We’ll reflect on how our values help us offer quality care at Grace, and where it brings up judgment or conflict when we perceive things differently from others.

Thursday, July 9th | 12:00-1:00pm

Food for Thought

From Assuming to Asking

Many of us learned the Golden Rule as a guide for care: treat others the way we want to be treated. The Platinum Rule invites us one step further: treat others the way they want to be treated.

This means slowing down enough to ask, listen, and notice what comfort, respect, communication, support, and care may look like for someone else — even when it differs from what we would choose for ourselves.
